Twilight Stitchers of Ellinwood will host a Member Trunk Show at 7:30 p.m. on April 11 at the Ellinwood Hospital Education room. Members will choose 3 to 4 quilts from their personal collections to share. Friends and guests are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served.
Thompson Gymnastics will be hosting their annual meet, "Flippin Fiesta", on April 6th and 7th at the Great Bend High School gym. There will be more than 350 girls from around the state ranging in ages 5 to high school competing in multiple levels of talent. There will be four sessions on Saturday and three sessions on Sunday. Thompson Gymnastics have girls competing in Levels 2-4. First sessions start at 8 a.m.; second session starts around 11:30 a.m.; third session at approximately 2:30 p.m.; and the fourth session starts around 5:30 p.m.

Kinzie Elizabeth Manning and Brett Arthur Behrends were united in marriage on Sept. 22, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend in a double ring ceremony officiated by Father Reginald A. Urban. Parents of the couple are Mike and Judy Manning and Stan and Marcy Behrends.
Hilda Chakir will celebrate her 97th birthday on April 8, with family and friends. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she has three children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Elma Laughlin Lepej will celebrate her 99th birthday on June 30, with a card shower. Elma and her twin brother, Elmer Laughlin, were born on June 30, 1916, on a farm near Alexander. They attended school in LaCrosse. On April 17, 1943, she married Joe Lepej. Elma has been a resident of Great Bend since 1965. She has two daughters, Patti Smith and husband George of Great Bend and Jo Kay Lepej of Topeka;

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Gloria and Linus Schamber and Harold and Margaret Bettis, all of Hays; Vernon and Karen Hayes of Great Bend and the late Coyle and Carla Detherage, and Dale Perry; and the great-granddaughter of Norma Mounkes, all of Great Bend. Larned High School's football team, under the direction of head coach A.B. Stokes, participated in a football camp conducted by Sterling College football coaches. The Larned football team was scheduled to compete in a team camp at Newton.
LARNED - Larned High junior Colton Massey shot 3-over-par 75 at Buffalo Dunes Golf Course in Garden City to qualify for the 2015 Kansas Amateur Golf Tournament July 20-26 at the Wichita Country Club. Massey tied for fifth in qualifying at Garden City.
Camp Hope wrapped up Saturday at Barton Community College. With 68 campers and more than 100 volunteers, the week-long camp made use of the campus, with visits to Great Bend attractions such as the Wetlands Waterpark. The annual golf tournament was held Wednesday at StoneRidge County Club.
