ARKANSAS CITY - Florence C. (Maloney) Walter-McDermott, 74, of Arkansas City, formerly of Great Bend, died Monday at Sterling House of Arkansas City. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.

MCPHERSON - Kathleen M. Honomichl, 89, died April 24 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. Born on Nov. 16, 1921, in Langley, she was the daughter of Edward W. and Beatrice J. (Allen) Buffington. She graduated from Marquette High School. On Feb. 4, 1957, she married Miles Lou Honomichl. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 2001. She was a retired office manager for Cablevision in McPherson.
WICHITA - Shirley A. Waldroupe, 66, died April 24 at the Harry Hines Memorial Hospice Center-Via Christi in Wichita. Born April 24, 1945 in rural Rush County, she was the daughter of Leon Henry and Florence (Pfeifer) Matal. She graduated from Bison High School. A resident of Wichita for seven years, moving from Great Bend, she was a motor route carrier for the Great Bend Tribune and owner of T&J Bait and Tackle in Great Bend with her husband.

Barton Community College hosted a blood drive Friday in the Case New Holland Training Facility. They received 32 units of blood. Barton Visitor Center Receptionist Reba Hickel, pictured, donated and said she does so as often as she can. "I want to help people in need," she said. "I wish more people would donate because it really does help save lives."

Hoisington police officer and former Barton County Undersheriff Larry Holliday Jr. was arrested following an injury accident early Saturday in northern Barton County.
Chelsea A. Kaundart, 21, was traveling southbound on Washington in the 300 block and lost control on the snow and ice at about 3 p.m. on Sunday. The vehicle then crossed the center line and entered the east ditch sideways striking a cedar tree, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol Crash Log.
LARNED - Barbara J. Erway, 70, died March 2, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. Born April 5, 1943, in Sumiton, Ala., she was the daughter of Houston and Lilly Fortenberry Greathouse. Moving from Alabama in 1956, she was a longtime area resident of Larned and a Registered Nurse at Larned State Hospital. On June 13, 1962, she married Leonard L. Erway in Larned. He survives. She loved spoiling her grandchildren, going on camping trips and traveling.
