GBHH&H schedules grief support series

Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice will sponsor a Monday evening grief support group in Great Bend from May 14 through July 16. It will meet each Monday (except Memorial Day) from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Conference Room of the Medical Building at 3520 Lakin Ave. This building is just south of St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center and the entrance is on Lincoln Street.

Sister Marie Klein, 102, died May 21, 2015, in the Dominican Sisters' Convent Infirmary, Great Bend. Born April 25, 1913, in Fowler, as Mary Ann Agatha Klein, Sister Marie was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Helen (Hoffman) Klein. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community July 14, 1928, and pronounced her first vows August 17, 1931. She celebrated 80 years of religious profession in 2011.

​Marlin Tammen 1935 - 2015

GREENFIELD, Ind. - Marlin "Gene" Tammen, 79, passed away May 22, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital. Born on Dec.27, 1935, in Kansas City, Mo., he was the son of Herman Tammen and Gladys Tammen. In 1953, he graduated from Great Bend High School. He received his Bachelor of Liberal Arts degree from Wichita State University. In October of 1956, he married Cheryl Loy (Foos). He held various positions in the Federal Government from 1962-1987, including Midwest Director of the Office of Personnel Management. He enjoyed playing poker, playing bridge, spending time with his grandchildren, watching movies, and traveling with Cheryl ...

New Military Spending Bill Expands Empire

On Friday, the House passed a massive National Defense Authorization for 2016 that will guarantee U.S. involvement in more wars and overseas interventions for years to come.
