On the Record
A Great Bend Police officer stopped a car at 9:25 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Garfield St., but the driver, 23-year-old Nathan Myers, Ness City ran away. He was located in the 3900 block of 21st St. and arrested about 10 minutes later. Myers also had outstanding warrants. He was booked into the Barton County Jail on Tuesday morning. Charges will released on Wednesday.

The Great Bend Police Department is investigating an attempted aggravated arson case, after someone started a fire in a driveway at 2000 1/2 Adams St. The fire was reported at 9:23 p.m. Monday, and the Great Bend Fire Department was also alerted. Officers told the firefighters there was some liquid on fire in the driveway, and it had already been extinguished.

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will discuss next year's tuition rates during the next board study session, set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Seminar Room, F-30 of the Fine Arts Building. Trustees will also review bids to purchase three cars and two vans to replace high-mileage vehicles in the college fleet. Other items on the agenda include reporting program pass rates, the annual BCC Foundation Clay Shoot, a March board retreat and an open house for the refurbished Fine Arts Auditorium.
