Proposed alcohol policy on BCC agenda

Barton Community College's Board of Trustees will consider a proposed policy change that would allow beer or wine to be served on campus during special events. The proposal is on the agenda for a board meeting set for 4 p.m. Monday at the Seminar Room, F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building. The meeting was changed from the trustees' regular Thursday date because of scheduling conflicts.

Drought-stricken farmers, ranchers have more time to replace livestock

WASHINGTON - Farmers and ranchers who previously were forced to sell livestock due to drought, like the drought currently affecting much of the nation, have an extended period of time in which to replace the livestock and defer tax on any gains from the forced sales, the Internal Revenue Service announced Friday.

Approximately 111 calls for service and 72 officer initiated calls were received for the month of September. Officers responded to seven medical/fire calls. Four arrests were made and three criminal summonses were served in the month of September.
