Having only one track and field meet under their belts, Great Bend High School headed to Wichita on Thursday to take part in the two-day Shocker Pre State Challenge 2013 at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.

When Barton Community College head basketball coach Craig Fletchall watched the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship Final Four this past weekend at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, it was the fifth of its kind he's attended over the years.
Local games postponed
Mother Nature left its imprint in the Golden Belt on Tuesday, postponing Great Bend High School's track and field meet at Memorial Stadium, along with the Lady Panthers' Western Athletic Conference softball doubleheader with Liberal at the Sports Complex. Moreover, the Lady Panthers' home Western Athletic Conference soccer match with Hays was also postponed, along with the Great Bend swim team's trip to Garden City.
Key becomes only second Barton two-time All-America selection
Al Key's record-setting basketball career was capped by the Barton Community College sophomore guard being named Monday as a third-team National Junior College Athletic Association Division-I All-America selection for the second straight season.
