Otis-Bison Cougars place third in Class 1A-Division 2

HAYS - The Otis-Bison Cougars earned third place in Class 1A Division 2 state volleyball with a 25-23, 25-20 victory over Waverly Saturday at Fort Hays State University. The Cougars finish with a 28-13 record in their first state volleyball trip in 25 years. The Cougars are coached by Janell Meier.

Central Plains volleyball is Class 2A volleyball runner-up

EMPORIA – The third time was the charm for Olathe Heritage Christian. Olathe Heritage defeated defending Class 2A state volleyball champion Central Plains 25-12, 25-15 to capture the 2A title Saturday. Central Plains finishes with a 40-3 record under coach Lisa Crites one year after a perfect 43-0 record last season.

Central Plains, Otis-Bison volleyball make semifinals

EMPORIA - Defending Class 2A state champion Central Plains posted wins over Kiowa County 25-20, 20-25, 25-16, and Alma-Wabaunsee 25-18, 25-15 and last year's state runner-up Olathe Heritage Christian 25-20, 25-22 to insure a spot in Saturday's Class 2A state volleyball semifinals. The Oilers will play Belleveille-Republic County at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Great Bend soccer upsets Liberal

LIBERAL – No. 10 seed Great Bend stunned No. 7 seed Liberal 2-1 in Tuesday's Class 5A soccer regional after losing to the Redskins twice during the season. The Panthers just made the 170-mile trip to Liberal last week.

Defending state champion Central Plains reaches 2A state volleyball

ST. JOHN – No. 1 ranked Central Plains cruised past Ellinwood 25-16, 25-16 to capture the Class 2A St. John substate volleyball championship. The Oilers (36-2) captured last year's Class 2A state title with a 43-0 record. Ellinwood upset No. 2 seed Inman in the semifinals.
