MANHATTAN - Reagan Phelan jump started Central Plains on a 22-2 burst and the Oilers coasted past Pittsburg Colgan 48-24 Wednesday in the Class 2A state basketball tournament. The Oilers' speed and quickness overwhelmed the Panthers.
MANHATTAN - The Central Plains boys are rewriting school basketball history. Central Plains (23-0) will play Lawrence Seabury Academy (18-3) at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Manhattan's Bramlage Coliseum in the Class 2A state tournament.
MANHATTAN - Hutchinson radio station KSKU (94.7 FM) will air Central Plains Oiler basketball games from the Class 2A state tournament at Bramlage Coliseum. Cliff Shank and Scott Mitchum from Central Plains will be the broadcasters.
WICHITA - Great Bend's girls bowling team will head to Northrock Lanes at the Class 5-1A state championship with confidence after a runner-up regional finish. The Panthers finished second with a score of 2,408 pins behind chmpion Salina South. The Panthers will compete at 2:15 p.m. Friday. The Panthers finished sixth in Class 5-1A with a score of 2,106.
