Severe weather forecast for Saturday

WICHITA -- The National Weather Service in Wichita is forecasting the poossibility of severe weather Saturday across Kansas. Severe storms are expected to develop along a southward moving cold front Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. The primary threats will be damaging winds of 70 mph, large hail to the size of golfballs and very heavy rain.

Dodge City to host 6-man title game

DODGE CITY - The 2017 Wild West 6-man Bowl will be played at Memorial Stadium Saturday, Nov. 4. The inaugural Wild West Bowl was held last year at the stadium. Pawnee Heights (7-0) is top seeded and the favorite to return to the 6-man championship football game.

EMPORIA - Great Bend's Camryn Dunekack captured a 13th-place state medal in her first season of varsity golf.Dunekack posted a career low score (89) at windswept Emporia Municipal Golf Course. Dunekack tied Liberal's Corey Mein (89) for 13th place.

GARDEN CITY - Great Bend's Kerby Depenbusch (17:11.85) captured the Western Athletic Conference cross country title and teammate Connor Griffith (17:33.19) finished runner-up to lead the Panthers to the team title (39) by 10 points over Garden City (49).

Ellinwood captures volleyball title

CLAFLIN – The No. 3 seeded-Ellinwood's girls rolled to four consecutive wins to capture the Central Prairie League volleyball tournament. Top-seeded Central Plains finished fourth and No. 2 seeded Otis-Bison placed fifth.
