Panther doubles places runner-up

DODGE CITY - Great Bend's No. 2 doubles Jessica Nieto and Alexis Folkerts placed runner-up in Monday's Western Athletic Conference tennis tournament. Nieto and Folkerts (3-1) lost 8-5 to Garden City's Allyson Becker and Ann Douglas in the championship match. They beat teams from Dodge City, Hays High and Liberal.

Great Bend’s Depenbusch runner-up, team second

JUNCTION CITY – Great Bend runner Kerby Depenbusch finished runner-up (16:37.8) and the Panthers finished second (55) in the Junction City cross country meet Saturday to 6A Manhattan (47), last year's third-place state finisher. Maize High's Nathan Jones was medalist (16:19.2).

Great Bend's Baylee Beck earned Defensive Player of the Great Bend Volleyball Invitational Saturday for the third consecutive year. Panther teammate Jenna Mauler was named on the All-Tournament Team.

Larned girls win Ellsworth tennis tournament

ELLSWORTH - Larned's No. 1 singles Kristin Anderson (4-0) and No. 2 doubles Macy Haas and Katelynn Sanger (3-1) placed first to help the Indians win Tuesday's Ellsworth Tournament with 31 points. Anderson won her matches against Clay Center, Hoisington, Hillsboro and Ellsworth.
