Great Bend wrestlers lose 39-33 to Dodge City

DODGE CITY - For the second year in a row, the Dodge City-Great Bend wrestling match went down to the final match. Dodge City's Tylor Garcia downed Great Bend's Gage Fritz 8-2 to deliver a 39-33 victory over the Panthers. The match started with the 152-pound division and ended with the 145-pound division.

St. John claims fifth straight title at Gene Keady Classic

LARNED - Most Valuable Player Cole Kinnamon led St. John's balanced offense with 15 points as the Tigers beat Spearville 47-36 for their fifth consecutive Gene Keady Basketball Classic championship. St. John's Jorge Calleros and Chase Fisher also earned All-Tournament honors.

Great Bend wrestler Sander places first

DOUGLASS - Great Bend's Keaton Sander (138) won three matches to capture the Douglass Tournament Saturday. Sander defeated Wichita South's Asiel Flores 2-1 in the championship match after pins over Andover Central's Mitchell Allison (1:00); and Wichita Heights' Aevodric Gilkey (5:50). Sander is a three-time Class 5A state qualifier who has placed fourth and sixth the past two years.

Cardinals capture Ellis Tournament

ELLIS - Seven Hoisington High wrestlers captured first place in the Ellis Railer Round-Robin Wrestling Tournament. The Cardinals scored 252 points and WaKeeney-Trego placed second (160).

Otis-Bison sweeps Falcon Classic

LANGDON - The Otis-Bison boys and girls swept championships in the Fairfield Falcon Basketball Classic. The Otis-Bison boys beat Chase 52-19. The Otis-Bison girls defeated Fairfield 58-26.
