Drug Take Back event set for Saturday

Barton County residents with expired medication are invited to dispose of unwanted pills and patches this Saturday during national Drug Take Back Day. Items can be dropped off at sites in Great Bend and Hoisington from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 29.

Concealed carry classes remain popular

The state of Kansas no longer requires residents to take the conceal carry class and get a licence to carry a weapon, but the classes are still in demand, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said. Classes scheduled for this Saturday and for April 29 are full, but another class will be offered in August.

Mobile home fire

The Great Bend Fire Department responded to a fire call at 4:53 p.m. on Thursday at 168 South Washington for a mobile home on fire. Firefighters found the structure totally engulfed in flames. No occupants were injured.
