BISON - William Donald Albers, 65, passed away on July 8, 2017 at the Via Christi Medical Center, St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. Born on November 20, 1951 in Ransom, he was the son of Donald and Marguerite (Seuser) Albers.

Diana Elizabeth Sanders 1943 - 2017

Diana Elizabeth Sanders, 73, died unexpectedly July 8, 2017, at her rural Great Bend residence. She was born Aug. 29, 1943, at Great Bend, the daughter of George Joseph and Luella Pauline (Burhenn) Schwager. She married Robert LeRoy Sanders July 7, 1962, at Great Bend. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Sanders was a homemaker, property manager and sales professional. She currently was employed by Great Bend Appliance and Furniture.

Steven Lee Haines 1950 - 2017

ELLINWOOD - Steven Lee Haines, 67, passed away in Ellinwood on July 8, 2017. He was born in Great Bend on March 2nd, 1950, the son of Paul and Lucille (Cobler) Haines. Steven was a longtime Barton County resident formerly of El Dorado. He graduated from Rosalia High School in 1968 and later attended Barton County Community College. Steven also served four years in the United States Navy as a boiler tech during the Vietnam War. He married Diane Edwards on May 6th, 1995 in Ellinwood. She survives of the home.

KINGMAN - Walter Stuart Robinson died July 8, 2017, at Wichita. Born Sept. 26, 1918, on the family farm near Nashville, he was the son of Walter and Mary (Inslee) Robinson.

Democrats will be tested as Menendez finally stands trial

On April 1, 2015, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and codefendant Salomon Melgen were indicted on 22 felony counts of fraud, bribery, and related offenses. Now, finally, after over two years of Menendez serving as a member in good standing of the Senate Democratic Caucus while under indictment, the trial is set to begin. A last-ditch attempt for yet another delay was rejected by Judge William Walls and the trial date is Sept. 6, 2017.

By any measure, Mike Niedens – the auctioneer – has faced his share of life challenges. I suppose somewhere near the top would be the 12 months he spent on the frontline in a place called Vietnam. He arrived there as a twenty year old in March, 1968 two weeks after the Tet Offensive, which historians describe as the turning point in the war.
