KDWPT addresses landowner concerns surrounding elk management

PRATT – A shift in Kansas' elk hunting season dates and management units will address local landowner concerns of crop damage caused by elk. At their June 21 public hearing at the Great Plains Nature Center in Wichita, Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism commissioners voted in favor of moving the harvest season opener from Sept. 1 to Aug. 1 and reducing the size of Unit 2 – the unit that includes and provides a protective buffer around Fort Riley – to provide landowners with more options for controlling elk numbers on their land.

Joseph C. Weber 1948 - 2018

ROGERS, Ark. - Joseph C. Weber, 69, of Rogers passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife/caregiver, Linda on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's. He fought it courageously and was determined to never give up.

SALINA - Beverly Gene Salmon, 82, died June 16, 2018 at Salina Regional Health Center. She was born July 19, 1935 in Salina, the daughter of Warren and Helen (Parker) Trapp. She was a music educator; substitute teacher; served in several Kansas churches; and worked in the Ecumenical Institute/Institute of Cultural Affairs, which took her around the world.
