Labor market shows signs of improvement

TOPEKA - There are signs the state's labor market is making strides in the right direction, the Kansas Department of Labor reported, even if the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.9 percent, unchanged from July and up from 5.8 percent a year ago.

County to replace downed radio tower

On July 24, an agricultural crop spraying rig clipped one of the guy wires holding up the Barton County Communications Department's radio transmitting tower north of Doonan GMC Peterbilt east of Great Bend. The collision toppled the tower.

B-29 restoration effort approved by council

A worthy effort
