Commission takes no action on personnel matter

The Barton County Commission took no action on an unspecified personnel matter after emerging from two executive sessions Monday morning. The closed-door discussions came at the request of Commissioner Alicia Straub based on an employee complaint outlined in a registered letter received by all commissioners last week.

First confirmed flu cases of season identified in Kansas

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has now confirmed the first influenza cases of the 2015-2016 season, the KDHE announced Thursday. Although the season is well underway, health officials say its not too late to get vaccinated.

Council declares trailer house unsafe, sets hearing

The Great Bend City Council Monday night agreed with the findings of Building Inspector Lee Schneider and Code Enforcement Officer Stuart Baker that a dilapidated trailer house at 26 Hickory St. is unsafe and dangerous and set a public hearing for 7:30 p.m. March 21, prior to the City Council meeting at City Hall to discuss the matter.
