Great Bend High School announced this week the 2102 inductees into its Hall of Fame, a collection of folks that attended, taught at or had an impact on the school. Central Kansas Orthopedic Group will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, to celebrate its major remodeling effort, as well as the addition of Dr. David Rhodes and physical therapist Troy Moore to the practice. Catholic Health Initiatives, Englewood, Colo., voted Wednesday to integrate St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, and St. Rose Ambulatory and Surgery Center, Great Bend, into Denver-based Centura Health, Colorado's largest health care network. The decision follows a unanimous recommendation from the St. Catherine, St. Rose and Centura Health boards of directors, and final approval from CHI.
For now, at least, the average retail gasoline prices in Kansas are falling, dropping 4.3 cents per gallon in the past week with an average of $3.21 per gallon as of Sunday. This compares with the national average that has fallen 3.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.46, according to gasoline price website KansasGasPrices.com.

The Great Bend Municipal Airport is an important piece of our community's history. Dating back to World War II, it was constructed in the early 1940s as an Army Air Force Base to train Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber crews.
There will be a general election in Barton County come April 7. On the ballot will be several school board, mayoral and city council positions, as well as openings on the Barton Community College and Ellinwood District Hospital boards.
The Great Bend B-29 Memorial Plaza was dedicated in 2000 With much fanfare. The monument was a gleaming tribute to the city's rich World War II heritage.
