HOISINGTON - At the Hoisington City Council meeting on Monday, several landlords were present, upset about the rental licensing agreement just passed by the council. The Great Bend Tribune featured a story on the program on July 6. The rental agreement requires minimum standards for rental housing and rental inspection.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington City Council has approved a new ordinance requiring rental properties be properly maintained and inspected. The purpose is to protect both renters and homeowners, protect the value of land and dwellings throughout the city, and to protect the public from increased criminal activity that tends to occur in residential areas that are unstable due to blight.

ATWOOD - Noel Arthur Lipton, 71, died June 29, at the Rawlins County Hospital. Born Sept. 9, 1942, in Seattle, Wash., he was the son of Fredrick and Francis (Kelly) Lipton. On Sept. 9, 1972, he married Betty Ruckman in Great Bend. He was a mechanic and proudly served in the United States Army.
After record breaking drought and heat, the past few years have not been easy ones for farmers and gardeners. However, this June has provided much needed moisture, 8.34 inches as of Monday afternoon, according to John Feerick, senior meteorologist at accuweather.com.
HOISINGTON - The Hoisington City Council, at its regular meeting last week, passed an ordinance disallowing the storage of vehicles or parking in the front yard on residential property. The ordinance went into effect last Friday.

HOISINGTON - The city of Hoisington is facing major infrastructure upgrades, including city sewage lagoons that are short-circuiting, causing problems with under treated sewage. In light of that issue as well as other infrastructure upgrades needed such as a leaking swimming pool, the Hoisington City Council discussed at its meeting on Monday, adding a one cent sales tax for items purchased in Hoisington.
