‘Hiking Humanitarian’ walks through Great Bend

Hoisington principal chosen as ‘Exemplary Principal’

HOISINGTON - Hoisington Middle School Principal Pat Reinhardt has been chosen as one of three Kansas Association of Middle School Administrator's Exemplary Principal. In addition to Reinhardt, Brad Miner, principal of Royster Middle School of Chanute, and Dr. Michael Wolgast, principal of Pioneer Trail Middle School of Olathe were also chosen.

Missing dog returned to college student

Courthouse Civil War statue condition assessed

"It's a terrific monument," said Dr. Dennis Montagna, director of the National Park Service's Monument Research and Preservation Program in Philadelphia. Monday morning, he inspected the south facing Union Civil War bronze statue located in the courthouse square.

BARTON COUNTY - The elm leaf beetle, which has recently made a reappearance in Barton County, is a relatively harmless beetle that may cause the leaves from the tree to drop, but should not cause permanent harm to a healthy tree, according to Jim Strine, Kansas Forest Ranger.
