KSHSAA places HMS activities into CKL

HOISINGTON - For the first time ever, the Kansas High School Activities Association executive board has placed middle schools into an activities league. Pratt, Larned and Hoisington were placed into the Central Kansas League for middle schools starting with the 2015-2016 school year.

Kansas voters can change party affiliation until July 1-this year

This year, voters can change party affiliation until July 1 despite new legislation passed by the state of Kansas, according to Donna Zimmerman, Barton County Clerk. When HB 2210 is published in the Kansas Register on July 1-that is the date the new law will go into effect.

USD 431 begins Walking School Bus initiative

HOISINGTON - Walking or riding a bike is a healthy, wholesome activity, and students walking to and from school gives kids great outdoor exercise. USD 431 Hoisington School District has received a $10,000 grant for a Walking School Bus for the next school year. A Walking School Bus, where a parents walks with the kids to and from school, is one of the latest initiatives to get kids outside and combat obesity.
