WICHITA - A Great Bend man was indicted on a federal drug charge and a Russell woman was indicted on a counterfeiting charge, Thursday in U.S. District Court. These and other indictments were announced by U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom.

Barton Community College GED candidates line the hallway of the Fort Riley Conference Center on Thursday morning as they prepare to take the next step in their lives and educations. The graduates were a mix of Great Bend and Fort Riley students. Although only 27 chose to walk, more than 90 received their general equivalency diplomas from Barton this year. BCC President Dr. Carl Heilman addressed the students regarding their success, telling them it's a sweet victory, but advised them not to settle and to continue to pursue education at the college level.
Four large oil-painted murals from Bank of the West have been donated to the Barton Community College Foundation. The murals by artist Pat Potucek were moved to the college's Shafer Gallery on Wednesday.

Failing to show enough improvement on certain goals for 2011 will cost Barton County Community College money, President Dr. Carl Heilman said.
