In Barton County, 6.9 percent of income from Social Security

If Barton County residents didn't receive their monthly payments from the Social Security Administration, 6.9 percent of total personal income in the county would be lost, a total of $74,871,073 in 2009, according to data from the federal Bureau for Economic Analysis and the Social Security Administration.

Spring Expo scenes

These photos were taken Saturday at the 21st annual Central Kansas Spring Expo. With 194 exhibitors, there is something for everyone. The expo continues Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Expo Complex west of Great Bend. Admission is free until noon. In the afternoon it is $1 for adults; children will be admitted for free. Many vendors have featured products.
