BCC’s Volunteers In Action to host food drive

Barton Community College's newly founded Volunteers in Action group will host their inaugural event, a food drive titled "Check-Out Hunger" alongside Barton's other volunteer group, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program on Saturday, April 6, at Wal-Mart and the 10th Street Dillons in Great Bend.

A 20-year-old man told Great Bend police he was battered by someone carrying a knife, around 9:46 p.m. Friday in the area of 19th and Holland St. He did not know the subject. An aggravated battery case was taken.

St. Mark Lutheran Church to host e-recycle collection

St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend will accept out-dated and broken electronic items for recycling from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 30. The church is located at 21st and Jackson St. This project is being done in cooperation with the Barton County Landfill, which also accepts "e-waste."
