Wolf re-elected

Rep. Bill Wolf will return to Topeka for a third term as Representative of the 112th District, winning his bid for re-election Tuesday with nearly 60 percent of the votes. Cates wins race for 4th District County Commissioner

CLAFLIN - Republican candidate Don Cates will be the new Fourth District County Commissioner defeating Ellinwood resident and Democrat Frank Koelsch with 100 percent of the votes counted. A Claflin resident, Cates won 1,038 to 650 with 61 percent of the votes for Cates.

Parrish chosen as grand marshal of holiday parade

Bob Parrish has been chosen to lead Great Bend's holiday parade on Nov. 27, sponsors at Sunflower Diversified Services announced. Parrish was a logical choice for grand marshal of this year's Home for the Holidays event, because the parade theme is "Our Favorite Christmas Story." TLC Twisters bring comfort to shelter dogs

The TLC Twisters 4-H club at TLC Discoveries built eight dog beds which they presented to the Golden Belt Humane Society last week. The beds, made of donated PVC pipe and nylon material, will provide a place for puppies and smaller dogs to relax off the cement floor. They are easily hosed off, and are quick drying, making them ideal for a kennel environment.

Hoisington to host annual ‘Mud Run’

HOISINGTON - Engines will once again roar as drivers try to drive through the mud at the fourth annual Mud Run at 1 p.m. on June 1 in Hoisington, south of the railroad track on the east side of U.S. 281. It will be held in conjunction with the Kansas Mud Racing Organization.
