The 10 p.m. Thanksgiving sale at Great Bend's Walmart got out of hand, with people being "knocked down and trampled," according to police reports. No one was sent to the hospital, but a woman did complain that her arm hurt after the scuffle, according to Sgt. James Buchar at the Great Bend Police Department.

HOISINGTON - Hoisington High School counselor Amanda Brack and art teacher Christine Lamoureaux recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to receive the National Promising Practice Award in Character Education for Creating the Cardinal Core character education at Hoisington High School, which has involved nearly everyone at the school.

The old high school gym had a bold new look Tuesday morning, The new lower-level bleachers and handicap seating products arrived at Great Bend High School last week. Workers were busy assembling and installing them through the weekend. Dave Meter, GBHS athletics director was there to test them for the first time Monday night.

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees have approved an increase in tuition and fees for all students, starting in the fall of 2013. However, they also increased the discount to Barton County students, so there will be no change in what they pay, said BCC President Dr. Carl Heilman.
