Statistics show county teen pregnancy rate improving

BARTON COUNTY - The Kansas Department of Health and Human Environment has released the 2010 statistics on teen pregnancy in the state, and the good news is that, following a nation-wide trend, the Barton County figures are falling and at nearly twice the rate as the state average.

Storms bring power outages

Beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, powerful thunder storms rolled through the Golden Belt and brought down over 300 power poles, Midwest Energy reported Friday morning. The areas impacted hardest were primarily South of K-96, from Jetmore in the west to just west of Hutchinson in the east.

Farm expo coming to town

The 2015 Great Bend Farm and Ranch Expo will be held Wednesday through Friday, April 8, 9, and 10, 2015 in Great Bend. The show is located at the Expo Complex west of town. The show hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on the 8th, 9 a.m.- 7 p.m. on the 9th and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the 10th with extended hours on Thursday.
