There were many races to follow Tuesday night at the Republican Election Watch Party, and by 8 p.m. many were too close to call. But one local race showed a clear favorite, with Rep. John Edmonds being re-elected to the 112th district by a landslide. After advanced ballots were tallied, Edmonds had almost 69 percent of the votes, leading Democrat challenger Stephen Muehleisen 955 to 435. Edmonds went on to win the election with more than 75 percent - receiving 4,480 votes to Muehleisen's 1,459 in the election night final tally. Both men are from Great Bend.
HOISINGTON - The USD 431 School Board met at its regular meeting on Monday and continued the discussion of the future of Lincoln School. The board has been discussing various scenarios, including remodel and building a new school.

Sharon M. Dennis, 66, died Nov. 3, at her home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 5, 1948, in Eureka, she was the daughter of Oscar Logan and Doris Marie (Simmons) Evenson. On Dec. 17, 1967, she married E. C. Dennis in Towanda. A Great Bend resident since 1977, coming from Wichita, she was employed by CPI in Human Resources and was a teacher at Claflin and Carlton Junior High in Derby.
