The Great Bend High School Class of 1975 will hold a memorial service for the deceased members of their class at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Barton County Historical Society church at 85 S Hwy 281, located just south of the Arkansas River Bridge on Highway 281. Family and friends are invited to attend this memorial beginning.
All nine children of Elsena Bender and the late Hubert Bender met in Great Bend, Aug. 1, for a Bender/Brack family reunion. In 1965, a plane crash took the lives of Marvin and Thelma Brack so the Benders took in their five nieces and nephews and raised them along with their own four daughters. The family was celebrating the last 50 years that they have been together as one family. The nine children, along with spouses, children and grandchildren brought together almost 50 people for the weekend.

The annual Christiansen Family reunion was held on Aug. 8, at the Larned Community Center. The attendees were descendants of August and Pruella Christiansen, the family farm was southeast of Great Bend, in Barton County.
The following well-balanced and nutritious Friendship Meals will be served for lunch at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Meals are served with milk; donations for coffee and tea are accepted.
The 50th annual reunion of family and friends of Conrad and Rosa Matal Scheuerman was held Aug. 1 and 2, at the Claflin Community Center. The family gathered Saturday for a barbecue. Sunday activities included a church service conducted by Paul Scheuerman, dinner and swimming. The reunion ended Monday with breakfast at Perkins Restaurant.

The annual Hathaway reunion, families of the 12 children of the late John William and Reno Hathaway, was held on June 27, at the I.O.O.F. Lodge in St. John with 71 attending. Debbie Haddon was hostess.
Former students of Country School District 71, south of Great Bend, held a reunion on June 20, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Marla Brocher served refreshments to the 20 students and spouses. The annual reunion of the family of William and Stella Miles, was held June 14, at the Iuka Community Hall with 23 family members attending.Hosts for the reunion were Teresa Bachand and Kenny and Fern Tompkins.
