The annual reunion of descendants of Conrad Scheuerman, Elizabeth Schwindt Scheuerman and Rosa Matal Scheuerman will begin at 3 p.m. on Aug. 1. with a BBQ and games at the Claflin Community Center, 409 A Street. The annual Hathaway reunion, families of the 12 children of the late John William and Reno Hathaway, was held on June 27, at the I.O.O.F. Lodge in St. John with 71 attending. Debbie Haddon was hostess.
Former students of Country School District 71, south of Great Bend, held a reunion on June 20, at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Marla Brocher served refreshments to the 20 students and spouses. On Nov. 7, past employees of Lane-Wells Company, a Perforating and Logging Company, held a reunion in Great Bend at the American Legion. Lane-Wells left this area in the early 90's after being located in Great Bend for about 45 years. The company employed approximately 5O people. In addition to Great Bend, Lane-Wells had stations in Russell, Stockton, Atwood, Eldorado, Pratt and Liberal. They employed over 150 people, including Great Bend.
