The upcoming event of the 19th Annual Kansas Iwo Jima Reunion and Dinner was founded by the late Walt Vincent in 1996, an Iwo Jima veteran and Purple Heart recipient. St. Ann's All School Reunion was held on Sept. 28th. The celebration began with a reception at 1 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The school was open all day long for touring, reminiscing and picture taking. At 4 p.m. Les Winholz and the Catherine choir provided a polka mass. A bag piper led in the religious procession of 13 sisters (former teachers and home-grown sisters), one Franciscan Brother, one Deacon, Father Murphy and Bishop Brungardt. The annual reunion of family and friends of Conrad and Rosa Matal Scheuerman was held Aug. 4 and 5 at Camp Aldrich. The family gathered Saturday for a barbecue, swimming and games. Sunday activities included a church service conducted by Todd Scheuerman, dinner and swimming. The reunion ended Monday with breakfast at Perkins restaurant.
A reunion of the Mauler Family was held on Aug. 25, at the Best Western Courtyard in Great Bend. Co- hosts for the day were Paul Maneth, Ed and Sharon Mauler, and Larry and Karel Maneth.
On Nov. 7, past employees of Lane-Wells Company, a Perforating and Logging Company, held a reunion in Great Bend at the American Legion. Lane-Wells left this area in the early 90's after being located in Great Bend for about 45 years. The company employed approximately 5O people. In addition to Great Bend, Lane-Wells had stations in Russell, Stockton, Atwood, Eldorado, Pratt and Liberal. They employed over 150 people, including Great Bend.
