Twenty-nine senior centers from across southwest have been recognized and designated a 2014 Focal Point by the SouthWest Kansas Area Agency On Aging (SWKAAA) according to Dave Geist Executive Director. These centers were recognized for the programs and services that were provided Oct. 1, 2013 thru Sept. 30, 2014.
Television these days is featuring programming about tough jobs. You have the Discovery Channel's "Dirty Jobs with Mike Row," a huge hit. Then came oil workers in "Black Gold." Besides the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, today marks the start of "Family Life Week." At the Krug household we certainly have a lot to celebrate. The newest addition to our family, Boland Garet Baker, arrived mid-day on the 18th. He weighed in at just over 9 pounds and is 21 and ½ inches long. To say that his big sisters are thrilled with his arrival would be an understatement. His mom and dad, all the grandparents, aunts, and uncles are equally happy to welcome him into the family.
Barton County 4-H members were honored for their accomplishments at the 80th annual 4-H Achievement Celebration. The theme was "Jazz it up with 4-H". Mikey Hughes, 4-H Council President and Morgan Kaiser, 4-H Council Vice-President served as the emcees. Heather Schneider, Council Treasurer led the members in the Flag Salute and 4-H Pledge.

When the calendar turns to November, I start thinking about next years' programs. That's right; 2015 is just around the corner. Our program development committees will welcome new members at our upcoming annual meeting and we will have a meeting with all 24 council members after the first of the year.
