A Great Bend Police officer stopped a car at 9:25 p.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Garfield St., but the driver, 23-year-old Nathan Myers, Ness City ran away. He was located in the 3900 block of 21st St. and arrested about 10 minutes later. Myers also had outstanding warrants. He was booked into the Barton County Jail on Tuesday morning. Charges will released on Wednesday.
The Great Bend Police Department is investigating an attempted aggravated arson case, after someone started a fire in a driveway at 2000 1/2 Adams St. The fire was reported at 9:23 p.m. Monday, and the Great Bend Fire Department was also alerted. Officers told the firefighters there was some liquid on fire in the driveway, and it had already been extinguished.
At 2:16 p.m. Wednesday, Great Bend police received a report of an aggravated battery. The reporting party said three unknown males battered him in the 800 block of 10th St. and burglarized his residence.
A hit-and-run accident in the 1000 block of Warner Road was reported to the Great Bend Police Department at 4:20 a.m. Sunday. A motorist struck two parked vehicles then left the scene on foot. At 4:43 a.m. an individual at 2119 Ninth St. reported theft of a 2000 Mercury, which was the car located in the 1000 block of Warner Road.
