Grief support group sessions to start

Golden Belt Home Health & Hospice will sponsor a Tuesday evening grief support group in Great Bend from May 10 through July 5. It will meet each Tuesday from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Thelma Faye Harms Room in the basement level of St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center, 3515 Broadway.

Motorcycle Awareness Ride

Bikers of Central Kansas will sponsor the Motorcycle Awareness Ride on Saturday. All riders will meet at 11 a.m. at Ernie's Bar and Grill, 619 main in Great Bend. Bikes will be leaving about noon and the ride will go through Larned and south to Belpre. Then east on Highway 50 through Macksville, on to St. John and a ride around the city square. Crime Stoppers asks for tips on Hoisington burglary

Sometime between 8 p.m. on April 15 and 8 a.m. on April 18, a burglary occurred at Boxberger Automotive, located at 167 West First St. in Hoisington. Total loss, including damage to building and cash stolen, was $2,100.

VA Mobile Office

The Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs Mobile Office will be located at the Great Bend Walmart parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday to assist eligible veterans and family members in obtaining benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Such benefits might include service connected disability compensation, improved pension benefits, death pensions, VA health care benefits, education benefits, vocational rehabilitation and much more. Zoo changes Earth Day event

Great Bend-Brit Spaugh Zoo is still planning an Earth Day celebration on Friday, but it will not be showing a movie as announced earlier, Zoo Director Scott Gregory said. The zoo will reopen at 6 p.m. Friday for this after-hours event. This event is now free to the public.

Woman treated for minor injuries after collision

The Great Bend Police Department reports Charles Rupp was driving north on Patton Road at 4:43 p.m. Saturday and his vehicle struck a vehicle driven by Jasmine Velasco, who was westbound on 10th St. turning south onto Patton. Velasco was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital, where she was treated for injuries and released.
