USD Board of Education meeting

USD Board of Education will meet at noon on Tuesday at Lincoln Elementary School, 5630 Broadway. Items on the agenda include a list of maintenance and grounds activities projects proposed for summer 2012. Lincoln Principal Laura Blevins and other staff members will share information regarding the academic programs and the school improvement efforts at Lincoln Elementary School.

Trailblazer vandalized, stereo stolen

Crime Stoppers is seeking information about damage done to a Chevy Trailblazer at 717 Cooledge, Apt. 13, sometime between 8:30 p.m. last Friday and 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. According to Great Bend Police Chief Dean Akings, the driver's window was broken out, the hood opened and battery cables cut. An Alpine 2000 watt amp and a Memphis 12-inch sub box were stolen. Loss and damage totaled $1,700.

Pedestrian reports being hit by car

A man was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital on Monday after reporting he'd been hit by a car. Stoney Ryan called 911 at 10:39 p.m., saying he'd been walking in the vicinity of the Great Bend Police Department when a red two-door vehicle struck him and left the area.

Shotgun wielding man demands property

A Great Bend man told police Monday that a stranger with a 12 gauge shotgun came to his house demanding his property, but left after a brief struggle.

Cannonball Trail Stagecoach Gun Show

The Cannonball Trail Stagecoach Gun Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Pratt County Fairgrounds, 81 Lake Road. Admission is $5 for adults, children 12 and under are free with an adult. Proceeds benefit the Cannonball Trail American Red Cross.

Deines Cultural Center jam session

The monthly jam session/pot luck regularly held at the Deines Cultural Center will be held on Sunday at 820 N. Main in Russell. Musicians start to gather at 3 p.m. A covered dish supper begins at 5 p.m. Pickin' continues into the evening. Anyone wishing to join in the pot luck is asked to bring food to share.
