Touched by Cancer Support Group will have a sharing meeting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, and a speaker meeting at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
Program on increasing happiness rescheduled
An Interactive Television (ITV) presentation at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center has been rescheduled. The late February blizzard postponed the event, which is now set for 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 10.
Dietician to speak to Parkinson's support group
A local registered dietician will share information about nutrition at the next Parkinson's Support Group meeting at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center, 3515 Broadway. It is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, in the basement-level St. Dominic Room.
Altar Society announces kolache sale
The Prince of Peace Altar Society's annual Kolache Bake and Take will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 12, at St. Rose Auditorium, 1412 Bake Ave. Apple, apricot, cherry, peach and poppy seed kolaches will be available to purchase.
Good Friday service at First Baptist Church
There will be a Good Friday service at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, 1600 19th St. Local ministers will take part in the service, which is open to the public.

Barton Community College will present a student recital of instrumental and vocal performances at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 4 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. Have lunch with a hedgehog
Danielle Ricklefs from Brit Spaugh Zoo will present "Critters in Classrooms" today at noon at the Great Bend Activity Center. Ricklefs, the education coordinator at Great Bend's zoo, will bring a hedgehog and/or other animal ambassadors from the zoo that travel to area classrooms.
Chamber Coffee
This week's Chamber of Commerce Coffee will be hosted by Pilot Club at the Chamber Conference Room, 1125 Williams, at 9:30 a.m., Thursday. Ambassador in charge will be Nancy Sundahl with greeters AJ Chrest and Marty Steinert. Coffee, refreshments and door prizes will be available.
Library announces movies, membership drive
Great Bend Public Library, 1409 Williams St., will show "Red Dawn" at 4 p.m. Monday, April 1, for Teen Movie Monday, open to students in grades 7-12.

BCC to close for Easter weekend
Barton Community College will be closed on Good Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1. Barton's Center for Adult Education and Shafer Art Gallery will also be closed. The college's regular class schedule and office hours will resume Tuesday, April 2.
'Journey of the Universe' to be shown Friday
Dominican Sisters of Peace will show the motion picture "Journey of the Universe" at 6:15 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the auditorium of the Motherhouse, 3600 Broadway Ave. A freewill donation is requested. Refreshments and discussion will follow the movie. This documentary is part of the Movies with a Message series that will conclude on April 26 with "The Big Year."

Man battered at convenience store made multiple calls to police
A Great Bend man was allegedly battered by four other people, Saturday night or early Sunday at the Kwik Shop at 24th and Main. The Great Bend Police Department is investigating after viewing a surveillance video of the altercation. GBMS band concert
The Great Bend Middle School Band Department will be having their spring band concerts on Thursday at the Great Bend Middle School gym. The 7th Grade Band the GBMS Jazz Ensemble concert will begin at 6:45 p.m. The 8th Grade Band and the GBMS Jazz Ensemble concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public. The bands are directed by Kurtis Koch and assisted by Mark DeWald.
