Senior Center announces May potluck

The Senior Center will serve Mexican food for its monthly potluck dinner, set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Participants should bring a covered dish and their own table service. There is a fee for the Mexican food, and those planning to attend should call the Senior Center, 792-3906, and let them know.

Barton Community College has announced enrollment times for its summer 2011 outreach courses. The college's summer bulletin of classes lists all outreach courses and workshops. Barton Community College will offer a Certified Medication Aide Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, May 7 through June 11. Country Plus band playing to relight the Eagle

The Fraternal Order of Eagles, 1024 Main, will have a dance from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, with the band Country Plus. This event is a fundraiser for the ongoing effort to restore and re-light the neon "eagle" signs outside the building. Admission is $3 per person or $5 per couple.

Area-wide choir to sing for National Day of Prayer

Surrendered Family Ministries is sponsoring a free program Thursday in observance of the National Day of Prayer. The public is invited to the event, which starts at 7 p.m. at the Crest Theater, 1905 Lakin Ave. An interdenominational, area-wide choir has been practicing and will lead the singing. Man battered at convenience store made multiple calls to police

A Great Bend man was allegedly battered by four other people, Saturday night or early Sunday at the Kwik Shop at 24th and Main. GBMS band concert

The Great Bend Middle School Band Department will be having their spring band concerts on Thursday at the Great Bend Middle School gym. The 7th Grade Band the GBMS Jazz Ensemble concert will begin at 6:45 p.m. The 8th Grade Band and the GBMS Jazz Ensemble concert will begin at 8:15 p.m. The concerts are free and open to the public.
