The Great Bend Recreation Commission has a few openings left for its American Red Cross Baby-sitters Training later this month, GBRC Program Coordinator Garet Fitzpatrick said. The training is open to youths 11-15 years old and will be offered from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, at the Great Bend Recreation Center located at 1214 Stone St.
This Valentine's Day the Great Bend Public Library will sponsor a romance movie marathon, marketing director Jennifer King said. The library, 1409 Williams St., will show free movies for the public to enjoy all day on Tuesday, Feb. 14. The first movie starts at 10 a.m.
There are still a few openings for the Kansas Wetland Education Center's Feb. 11 winter kid's program, "Winter's Deep Sleep". Designed for children ages 6 through 12, the program runs from 10-11 a.m. at no charge.

The Great Bend Recreation Commission will offer an American Red Cross lifeguard certification course March 16-21 at the Barton Community College pool. GBRC offers the ARC Water Park Lifeguard training class. This class includes CPR for the professional rescuer, AED, and first aid. This is a 24-31-hour course.
