Barton Community College will offer a Certified Medication Aide Course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, May 7 through June 11. There will be a Drivers Ed parent meeting in the Commons area of the high school on Wednesday Students interested in taking driver education must be age 14 by June 1. Arts Center announces tag sale

A tag sale at the Barton County Arts Center, 1401 Main, Great Bend, has been rescheduled. Executive Director Karen Neuforth said the said will be held Saturday, April 9, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Items including ceramics, paintings, frames and LPs will be on sale, with proceeds benefiting the BCAC. A Great Bend home was burglarized twice during the month of May, Police Chief Dean Akings said. The house at 1604 Monroe St. was first burglarized between 9 and 9:30 p.m. on May 9. Man dies after motorcycle hits deer

A 38-year-old Ellinwood man died Monday night after the motorcycle he was driving hit at deer on U.S. 56. Daniel J. Otipoby was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital. Shortly after his arrival he was pronounced dead. The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will review a plan to opt out of new Kansas law that allows conceal-carry weapons on campus.
