GBRC holds winter middle school dance

Crime Stoppers seeks help solving burglary

Sometime on Jan. 3 or 4, a shed behind the Highland Hotel at 3017 10th St. in Great Bend was burglarized. Stolen were a roto-rooter, sink cable cleaner and a bundle of cables. Loss was $3,800. Barton Community College to hire cheerleading coach

The Board of Trustees of Barton Community College is scheduled to approve hiring of new personnel, including Stephanie Joiner, a candidate for head cheerleading coach, when it meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building. House hit twice by burglars

A Great Bend home was burglarized twice during the month of May, Police Chief Dean Akings said. The house at 1604 Monroe St. was first burglarized between 9 and 9:30 p.m. on May 9. Man dies after motorcycle hits deer

A 38-year-old Ellinwood man died Monday night after the motorcycle he was driving hit at deer on U.S. 56. Daniel J. Otipoby was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital. Shortly after his arrival he was pronounced dead. ​BCC trustees say no to guns on campus

The Barton Community College Board of Trustees will review a plan to opt out of new Kansas law that allows conceal-carry weapons on campus. The board will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Seminar Room, F-30 of the Fine Arts Building, for its monthly study session. The board will vote at its next business meeting on whether to adopt the resolution to opt out of the new law for four years.
