Man flown to burn unit after sandpit accident

Historian Yarmer to talk about trade beads

Robert Yarmer will present a free program on the history of trade beads, at 1 p.m. Friday at the Great Bend Senior Center, 2005 Kansas Ave. Trade beads, made in Czechoslovakia and Italy, were used by early whites to give to the Indians for good will, Yarmer says. Police investigate stolen boot

Great Bend Police are looking for a suspect with one green, size nine boot. Its mate was apparently dropped during the getaway, Detective David Bailey said Monday. It all started with a burglary at Moore Properties, 916 Williams St., that was reported Friday. GBRC holds winter middle school dance

Great Bend Recreation Commission and the 20th Judicial District Juvenile Services will sponsor a winter middle school dance from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Great Bend Activity Center, 2715 18th St. Admission is $3. Crime Stoppers seeks help solving burglary

Sometime on Jan. 3 or 4, a shed behind the Highland Hotel at 3017 10th St. in Great Bend was burglarized. Stolen were a roto-rooter, sink cable cleaner and a bundle of cables. Loss was $3,800. Barton Community College to hire cheerleading coach

The Board of Trustees of Barton Community College is scheduled to approve hiring of new personnel, including Stephanie Joiner, a candidate for head cheerleading coach, when it meets at 4 p.m. Thursday in room F-30, on the lower level of the Fine Arts Building. ​Recreation Commission board looks at budget time line

The Great Bend Recreation Commission's board of directors will discuss the time line for next year's budget when it meets at 4 p.m. Monday at the Carl Soden Recreation Center, 1214 Stone St. The board will also hear information on the Imagination Playground, Sunflower Community Habilitation Contract, summer program enrollment and the seasonal and part-time employee information handbook.
