The sixth-annual Great Bend Storm Special Olympics Turkey Bowl will kick off at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 28, at Great Bend High School's Memorial Stadium. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

Fifth grade Panthers to take part in Turkey Bowl

TOPEKA – The Great Bend fifth grade Panthers football team are at it again. On Nov. 22 and 23, the Panthers are taking part in the 12th-annual National Youth Sports Sactioning Organization Turkey Bowl at Topeka.

It is almost unimaginable that something so bad could last so long. I am talking about the BCS system that the NCAA used to determine its' Division I football champion. It was 16 years ago that the system was put into play. It proved to be more difficult to get rid of than an obnoxious cousin!

DODGE CITY – The Great Bend Middle School seventh and eighth grade girls basketball teams played in Dodge city this past weekend, racking several wins.

Pratt gets the treat

LARNED – On Halloween night, a night of tricks and treats, it was the Pratt Greenbacks that pulled the trick and got the treat as they edged by the Larned Indians 21-19 in football action Friday. The win allows Pratt to advance in the 4A Division II playoffs and the loss ended the Larned season.
