GBHS Volunteer Work Day, May 1st a “Great Success”
Dear Editor, May 1st was the first volunteer work day in the community for the students at GBHS. Even though this was a postponed date due to inclement weather, Mother Nature did her best to ruin the date again with wind and cold rain. As the new volunteer coordinator for Volunteers In Action, I have seen firsthand the example our community sets for caring about their neighbors. Dear Editor: As a taxpayer it was a disappointment to read in the April 26 Tribune that the low bid for the juco dorm construction was passed over by the Trustees in order to award same to a local contractor for an extra $132,187.00! The administration, to their credit, demonstrated good judgememt, recommending accepance of the low bid. Crony capitalism is a term that comes to mind. Henry Burmeister
State Hospital prohibits amendment right
Dear Editor: Protest against forced mandatory overtime by employees of Larned State Hospital was prohibited by the secretary of the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADS), Shawn Sullivan. Myers explains actions at meeting
Yes I walked out of the council meeting. I should not have even sat there to begin with as I had told them I would not play their childish game and then I did. This was a planned rehearsed orchestrated attempt to discredit me with the voters. I wonder how many if not all of the council members discussed this with each other prior to the meeting.
