Dear Editor, Please make sure you get out and vote on Tuesday April 2nd, 2013. Third ward make a showing and cast your vote for Allene Owen. I have known Allene for many years. She is a dedicated and compassionate person about her community. She listens and takes action when her community calls on her. Her commitment to the city council has been unending. She will represent our city in a positive way for growth ...
Dear Editor, I am writing to endorse Mike Allison for the position of Mayor of Great Bend. During Mike's term as mayor, Great Bend has seen positive growth which is easily measured financially, by the 27% increase in the ½ cent sales tax from its first full year compared to that of 2012. More importantly, under Mike's tenure, we have seen positive growth in an area that is difficult to measure, but is inherently linked ...
Dear Editor, We have known Mike Allison for more than forty years and can vouch for his integrity and knowledge of city issues. He has been involved in many Great Bend civic clubs and programs, from being a Cub Scout leader to an excellent city mayor. Mike researches all issues coming before the council and knows the pros and cons, which affect city residents. Having the well read knowledge of these issues he isn't quick ...
Dear Editor, Instead of occupying Wall Street, why don't we occupy Congress. But let's do it a little differently. Start a movement to replace every member of congress. I say we vote out of office, every incumbent. Start with the county offices, the State Representatives and the state Senators. Don't make it complicated, just pick on all incumbents. Then move on to the Congressmen and Congresswomen of Washington. If we vote out of office every ...
Dear Editor, I would like to encourage everyone, to get out and vote in the April 2nd election. And when you cast your vote for mayor, join me in re-electing Mayor Mike Allison. I could go on with a long and lengthy list of reasons to support Mike. I could tell you of the many accomplishments that he has contributed to for the benefit of Great Bend. But, I don't think that is necessary... Anyone ...
Dear Editor, Its time for the Christian to quit being distracted by all the smokescreens. So what are the smokescreens you ask? Abortion, homosexuality, same-sex marriage, pornography, evolution, lack of prayer in school, taking down the Ten Commandments, adultery, fornication, gun violence, economic struggles, gambling, drug and alcohol abuse, the brokenness of families, prophecy, Israel and many others. Why would I call all these important issues smokescreens? It is because all of these very important ...
Dear Editor, I am writing this letter in support of Randy Myers for Mayor. The City of Great Bend has been on a spending rampage. As a tax payer I am discouraged to see Red Barn, a company bringing in low paying wages and many people from out of town to work for those low paying wages, given hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax incentives and cash. During the first transaction in which the ...
Dear Editor, Voters of Great Bend: Mike Allison has proven his leadership ability in many ways over the past years. It is that leadership that has a lot to do with growth that our city has achieved. Mike Allison's long term leadership has immersed him with a vast network of associates at the state and federal level. In the past, Mike has met with our Senators and Congressmen both in Washington when they have been ...
Dear Editor, I have known Allene Owen since the early 1990s, dealing with her as an entrepreneur, serving with her on various committees and observing her in her role as a city council person. Dear Editor, We are writing this letter in support of current mayor, Mike Allison. We have known Mike for 43 years. Long before Mike was elected mayor of Great Bend, he was already working hard to make Great Bend a better place for families to live. When we first met Mike and his late wife Sally, they were new to the community. Mike had just started his dental practice and they were busy just trying ...
Dear Editor, Hello! My name is Bo Owens. I am a fifth grader at Conway School in Mount Vernon, Wash. In fifth grade we do state reports and I chose the great state of Kansas. Part of our report is that we have to do a display about our state. I am hoping you can help me with this. I would really appreciate it if you could send me information and artifacts about Kansas. Pamphlets, ...
I would like to endorse Randy Myers as the Mayor of Great Bend. Randy works for everyone, he weighs all of the issues and does not play favorites. A vote for Randy is a vote for Great Bend. Randy is a stand up guy who will support anyone who is right and he doesn't bow to special interest. Randy has never used the city council office to pad his own pockets such as selling his ...
I've known Allen Owen for 35 years. I have always known her to be a fair and honest person. We serve in two service clubs together, the Noon Lion's Club and the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club. Allene represents Great Bend with the highest integrity and works very hard to keep Great Bend one of the best cities to live in and raise a family. Her business experience helps her to use sound judgement ...
Dear Editor, This letter is long overdue. As I sat down to express my appreciation for all that Mayor Mike Allison has done, I realized that this letter was better suited for public consumption-I'm sure many others in Great Bend feel exactly as I do. Where do I start? Mike has done so much for our community as mayor of Great Bend! His support and vision have included many areas ranging from partnerships with USD ...
Dear Editor, Mr. Myers has been a member of the city council for seven years and a candidate for Mayor at least four times. His announcement printed in the Tribune on March 3 did not contain a single reference to positive accomplishment for which he was responsible. Mr. Myers makes the same claims as he has in the past. He alleges that certain individuals influence the current administration in order to insure that we recruit ...
Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
Dear Editor,
Yes I walked out of the council meeting. I should not have even sat there to begin with as I had told them I would not play their childish game and then I did. This was a planned rehearsed orchestrated attempt to discredit me with the voters. I wonder how many if not all of the council members discussed this with each other prior to the meeting.
Dear Editor,
