Terry Allen Holopirek, 62, died Sept. 8, 2016 at his home in Great Bend. He was born March 28, 1954 at La Crosse, the son of Alvin G. "Al" and Irene Marie (Gleissner) Holopirek. He was a fabricator for KMW Ltd. A loving father and grandfather, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and collecting guns, coins and stamps.
Maxine Iris Puckett died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016, in company of her family in Longview, Texas. She was born Jan. 29, 1927, the daughter of E.L. and Irene Bush. She was a 1945 graduate of Great Bend High School. On Sept. 28, 1950, she married Kelly B. Puckett in Wichita. She was employed as a secretary at Bankers Investment of Great Bend, later by employed by Stickney Distributing and a part time employee of the Great Bend Tribune. She had a passion for playing bridge, dancing with her husband and friends, and tending to her flowers.
Joan M. Bader, 81, died Sept. 7, 2016, at her home in Great Bend. Born March 23, 1935, at Redwing she was the daughter of Joseph and Maude (Eveleigh) Habiger. On Sept. 1, 1955, she married Robert Lee Bader at Hoisington. He died Jan. 4, 2011. A Great Bend resident since 1955, coming from Osborne, she was a homemaker. She was passionate about taking care of the neighborhood animals. She loved flower gardening.
ELLINWOOD - James "Jim" L. Clarke Sr., 70, passed away Sept. 5, 2016, in Wichita. Born Aug. 24, 1946, in Buffafo, New York, he was the son of Wade Clarke and Pauline (La Point) Musenbrock. He was a lifelong resident of Barton County where he worked as a truck driver in the oil field industry including 20 plus years at NCRA. On May 1, 1990, he married Carolyn (Myers) Clarke. ALEXANDER - Surrounded by loved ones, Darrell Gene Bradshaw passed away at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City on Sept. 5, 2016, after a sudden heart attack in June and a battle with undiagnosed cancer. Darrell was the fourth child born to Elgin and Mary (Butler) Bradshaw in Big Spring, Texas. He moved to Kansas at the age of 12 years where he remained, graduating from Great Bend High School. ELLINWOOD - Pauline Musenbrock, 92, passed away at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood on Sept. 3, 2016. She was born on Aug. 14, 1924 in New York. She was a lifetime Great Bend resident formerly of New York. She tended bar in Great Bend at the Knights of Columbus Hall and the Elk Lodge.
ALBERT - Alvin K. Schettler, 86, died Sept. 6, 2016, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born April 30, 1930, at Stoughton, Saskatchewan, Canada, he was the son of the Rev. Kurt G. and Louise (Schempp) Schettler. On Oct. 19, 1952, he married Janet Read at Belgrade, Neb. An Albert resident since 1965, Mr. Schettler was a Booster Station Plant Operator for Natural Gas Pipeline Company and retired from Occidental Petroleum in 1996.
Memorial services for Delores R. Ochs, 91, who died Aug. 22, 2016, at her home in Great Bend, and her son Duane A. Ochs, 60, who died July 27, 2016 at Miami, Fla., will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, with the Rev. Barbara Jones officiating.
HOISINGTON - Aaron C. "Nick" Nicholas, 46, died Sept. 1, 2016 at his home in Hoisington. He was born April 18, 1970, in Salina, the son of Marion and Jeannie Thornton Nicholas. Aaron graduated from Hoisington High School as a member of the class of 1989. He graduated from Phoenix Vo-Tech for Heating and Air. He also attended Barton County Community College. He was member of New Life Baptist Church.
STAFFORD – Doris E. (Clair) Witt, 84, passed away Sept. 1, 2016 at Stafford. Born June 3, 1932 at St. Rose Hospital, Great Bend, she was the daughter of Walter Clair and Lois Heyen Clair. On Dec. 14, 1950 she married Vernon Witt at Gainsville, Texas. Doris and Vernon had two children: Debra J. (Witt) Newell and Kim V. Witt.
DERBY - Larry D. Hart, 66, died at his home Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016. He was born March 3, 1950, to Otis and Ruby (Henning) Hart in Great Bend. After graduating from Great Bend High School in 1968, Larry attended Sterling College where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology. He later earned his master's degree in Counseling from Pittsburg State University where he met and married Sandy Stroup on May 25, 1974. Larry and Sandy moved to Dodge City, where he was a counselor for Vocation Rehabilitation Services.
