STAFFORD - Colleen Hagerman, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and last but not least, the cherished wife of Rocky Hagerman, who preceded her in death, passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2013, at her daughter's home in Yachats, Ore. She battled a difficult yet courageous struggle with kidney disease. Colleen, more affectionately known as "Nan," was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on Oct. 14, 1927.
ANDOVER - Norman H. Rice, 92, died June 10 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. He was born Dec. 9, 1921, at Hudson, the son of Charles and Bertha (Ukens) Rice. He married Doris Marie Winkelman March 1, 1947, at Wichita. She died Sept. 8, 2009. He was a carpenter for Lindholm Construction, Great Bend, and later was a self-employed carpenter for 10 years.
PORT ORANGE, Fla. - Sherlyn "Sherry" Karst, 66, lost her courageous battle with squamous cell carcinoma on April 9. Born on Nov. 13, 1947, in Paola, she was the daughter of Wilbur and Pauline Riley. On Jan. 24, 1968, she married Don Karst, while attending Pittsburg State University.
Jesus Hernandez, 64, died June 8 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita. He was born Oct. 6, 1949, at Manuel Benavidos, Chihuahua, Mexico, the son of Justiniano and Esperanza (Carrasco) Hernandez. He married Antonia Hernandez on June 12, 1974, at Chihuahua. A Great Bend resident for 17 years, coming from Chihuahua, he worked for Mid-America Feeders as a cowboy until he was unable to work.
WINFIELD - Dorothy Mae Wesseler, 91, passed away June 4 at Cumbernauld Village in Winfield. Born June 18, 1922, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Henry and Tillie (Riemann) Janke. On Nov. 18, 1945, she married Orville E. Wesseler. She was a homemaker, school lunch cook, and school bus driver.
William Joseph Robbins, 91, died June 7 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Oct. 15, 1922, in Coldwater, he was the son of George and Catherine (McFadden) Robbins. On Aug. 6, 1992, he married Nadine L. Lorimor in Las Vegas, Nev. She died Jan. 29, 1999. A Great Bend resident since 1989, coming from Tuscon, Ariz., and Comanche County, he was an accountant for H&R Block and farmed in Comanche County. He enjoyed watching sports.
Constance "Connie" Foelgner Lewis, 75, passed away on May 29 at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Parker, Colo. She was born July 13, 1938 to Genevieve Sophie Woydziak and Russell Robert Foelgner. She is the oldest sibling and survived by Roberta Foelgner-Walker, Linda Riffel-Pearson, Mary Riffel-Komarek and David Riffel.
