WOODBINE - Vincent E. "Vince" Malson, 71, of Woodbine, Georgia, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, at home. Born on August 21, 1941 at Ft. Scott, he was the son of Charlie and Lucille (George) Malson. The family lived in Erie and moved to Great Bend, where he graduated from Great Bend High School in 1959.

Dennis Patrick McGreevy, 60, died Dec. 9 at his home in Great Bend. Born April 19, 1952 in Great Bend, he was the son of William Stanley and June Lorraine (Murray) McGreevy. On April 23, 1976 he married Judy K. Bender in Great Bend. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, he was an equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation.

HOISINGTON - Sandra K. Brinson, 66, died Dec. 8 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 4, 1946 at Yale, Okla., she was the daughter of Alvin M. Sr. and Mildred Faye (Lanning) Sweeden. A lifelong resident of Barton County, she graduated from Great Bend High School. On June 28, 1964, she married Loren (Gene) Brinson in Great Bend. She was employed by C.O. Mammels grocery store until they closed. She was a caregiver for many people throughout the years.

HOISINGTON - Ruby Lucille Blaz, 70, died Dec. 8 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington. Born Oct. 27, 1942 in Guymon, Okla., she was the daughter of Raymond and Helen (Smith) Steinkuehler. Ruby moved to Hoisington in 1986 coming from Guymon, Okla. She was brought up in the Nazarene Church and worked as a CNA for Texas County Memorial Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading, traveling and music. On July 2, 1984 she married Rush Blaz in Great Bend.

Sister Sibyllina Mueller, 81, died early Sunday morning, Dec. 9 in the Dominican Sisters' Convent Infirmary in Great Bend. Born Jan. 10, 1931, in Wichita, as Theresa Susanne Mueller, Sister Sibyllina was the daughter of the late John and Sibylla (Ternes) Mueller. She entered the Dominican Sisters' Community on Aug. 26, 1945, and pronounced her first vows June 10, 1948. She celebrated 60 years of religious profession in 2008.

Olinda Elizabeth "Linda" Ott, 91, died Dec. 8 at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. Born Feb. 18, 1921 in Russell County, she was the daughter of Jacob and Mary Elizabeth (Hettinger) Tittel. On Jan. 9, 1949, she married I.L. "Bill" Ott in Milberger. He died on Jan. 10, 2007. A resident of Great Bend from 1963 to 2009, formerly of Russell, she was a homemaker.

HAYS - Donna J. Schmidt, 74, died Dec. 7 at Hays Medical Center. Born April 20, 1938, in Hutchinson, she was the daughter of Henry Oscar and Hertha Elsa (Reiswig) White. She grew up and attended high school in Hutchinson. On Dec. 20, 1959, she married Richard E. "Rich" Schmidt in Hutchinson. He died on Oct. 26, 1998. She and her husband owned and operated Al's Chickenette in Hays, from 1976 to 2010. She received a nursing degree at Fort Scott and worked at Central Kansas Hospital in Great Bend for a few years. Doris "Arlene" Bigham, 89, formerly of Great Bend, died Dec. 1 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice-St. Francis in Wichita. She was born the daughter of Roy and Nellie (Stump) Van Cleave on March 18, 1923, in Pawnee County near Larned. In 1943, Arlene and Phillip Eugene Bigham were united in marriage in Denver, Colo. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage. She was a loving mother and grandmother that touched many lives. All that knew Arlene loved her dearly.

OTIS - Ivan E. Worthen, 91, died Dec. 5 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia. Born Nov. 23, 1921 in Vinson, Okla., he was the son of Jeffie Earl and Velma Clara (Akers) Worthen. On Feb. 15, 1948 he married Imogene Carpenter in Mangum, Okla. She died on Jan. 3, 1999. A resident of Concordia since 2007, coming from Otis, he was employed at the helium plant, sold insurance for Farm Bureau and finished at the Otis State Bank as a cashier and retired as Senior Vice president.

On Sept. 6, 1945, she married James Howard Schutte in LaCrosse. He died on Nov. 6, 2004. A Great Bend resident since 1960, coming from LaCrosse, she was a home economics teacher at Harrison and Roosevelt Junior High Schools and Great Bend High School.

ODIN - Gerald W. "Jerry" Beran, 88, died May 21, 2015, at Almost Home, Great Bend. He was born Sept. 9, 1926, on the farm in Odin, the son of Anton A. and Hattie Rose (Prosser) Beran. He graduated from Odin High School in 1944 and later enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After returning from the military, Jerry played professional baseball for the Hutchinson Elks.

Louis Wintholz, 83, passed from this world to join his beloved wife Phyllis, in heaven on May 22, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. He was born Jan. 30, 1932, in Collyer, the son of Reinholdt "Ray" and Mary (Windholz) Wintholz. He attended school in Collyer and graduated from the Hays Cadets Academy in 1950. He married Phyllis Montgomery on May 8, 1954, at Hearndon. She passed away on Feb. 15, 2008.
