DAMAR - Jerome Benoit, 86, died Sept. 13 at the Graham County Hospital in Hill City. Born Feb. 10, 1926, in rural Damar, he was the son of Armond and Theresa (Boucher) Benoit. On June 12, 1944, he married Teresa Bernice Thyfault in Damar. She died on April 29, 2005. A lifetime area resident of Damar, he was a dairy farmer and a stockman.
Bobett Teresa Beran, 83, of Great Bend, formerly of Odin and Hoisington, passed away on Sept. 14 at Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born Aug. 15, 1929, in Pique, she was the daughter of Robert T. and Teresa (Stouffe) Lott. She graduated from Yates Center High School. On Oct. 26, 1949, she was united in marriage to Eugene A. Beran in Pique. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1998. Bobett was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She touched the hearts of everyone she met.
LARNED - Fredrick "Fred" L. Reno, 71, died Sept. 13 at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. Born July 9, 1941, in Kankakee, Ill., he was the son of Irvin and Marian Bittle Reno. A resident of Larned since 2005, formerly of Kingman, he was a retired computer programmer. On March 14, 1964, he married Mary Charlene Johnston in Derby. She survives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and always had plans for tomorrow.
HERINGTON - The Rev. Ray Talbot, 89, born on Jan. 27, 1923, died on Sept. 11 at the Medicalodges of Herington.
James Luther "Swede" Hemphill, 85, died Sept. 12 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. He was born July 26, 1927, at Byers, the son of Emmett W. and Trella (Clark) Hemphill. He married Joan Guinn, Oct. 7, 1950. He lived in Great Bend the past year, moving from rural Seward, having lived there 30 years. He retired from the Great Bend Co-op in 1989. He had also worked part time for the Stafford County Road Department.
OLMITZ - John William Haynie II, 38, died Sept. 11 at his residence in Olmitz. Born Dec. 3, 1973, in Stuttgart, Germany, he was the son of Glyn and Paula (Woodward) Haynie. On April 12, 1997 he married Stacy Owens in Fort Leavenworth. A resident of the Hoisington area since 2004, coming from Leavenworth, he was a finance manager for Marmie Chrysler in Great Bend. He liked camping, boating, fishing and the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his great group of friends.

GILLETTE, Wyo. - Gayle Ann Bell, 58, died Sept. 2nd. Born Oct. 9, 1958 in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Gale and Shirley Juby. Her family moved from Perry, Okla., to Gillette in 1972. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1976. On Oct. 22, 1977, she married Rick Bell.
ENID, Okla. - Robert Rae "Bob" Rowe, 57, died Sept. 7 at his home in Enid, Okla. He was born May 15, 1955 in Winfield, the son of Billie Rae and Patricia Joan (Sumner) Rowe. On July 20, 1974, he married Charlotte Rathbun in Great Bend. An Enid, Okla. resident since 2006, coming from Great Bend, he was the owner and operator of Rowe Wireline Service from 2006 to 2011. Gordon Schmidt, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Scott County Hospital in Scott City. Born Sept. 20, 1924, in Barton County, he was the son of Amos and Augusta Rodenberg Schmidt. A resident of Scott City since 1945, he was a farmer. On Dec. 9, 1948, he married Jeannine Clinton at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren in Friend,Kans. She survives.
Dorothy R. O'Connell, 98, died Sept. 8 at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born March 10, 1914 in Bison, she was the daughter of Harvey Robert and Grace Maude (Crotinger) Timken. On June 4, 1936 she married Earl Ronald O'Connell in Bison. He died on Aug. 21, 2001. A lifetime resident of Great Bend, she was a homemaker.
Harlie Edwin Nutting, 99, died Sept. 7, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Feb. 2, 1913 at Aberdeen, Idaho, he was the son of John W. and Mary Ellen (Esery) Sisler. At the age of four, he was adopted by Lewis and Emma (Lynn) Nutting and moved to Southwest Mo. On March 18, 1934, he married Helen Luticia Sanders at Rural Stafford County. She died on Jan. 30, 2005. On April 7, 1956, he married Anne LoBianco, at Oyster Bay, N.Y. She survives. He graduated from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. ST. JOHN - Norma Lea Gray, 78, died April 14, 2015 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Creek County, Okla., she was the daughter of Lester and Ruby (Browning) Allen. On Aug. 18, 1952, she married Melvin Eugene Gray in Oilton, Okla.
FREDONIA - Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
FRONTENAC - Patrick John O'Connell, 86, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on April 14, 2015 at the Medicalodge of Frontenac. He was born March 29, 1929, in Pittsburg, the son of William F. and Mary (Kinsella) O'Connell. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and later from Pittsburg State University. On June 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Wilson at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He worked for Cripe Bakery and Junge Baking Company as a route salesman.
RUSSELL - W. "Fritz" Waymaster, 87, died on April 12, 2015, at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born on July 30, 1927, in rural Bunker Hill, he was the son of David J. and Anna E. (Steinle) Waymaster. He grew up in the Bunker Hill area and started school there as well. Later he moved and finished his basic education in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1945.
HUTCHINSON - Marilyn K. Rivers, 74, died April 12, 2015, at Dillon Living Center. She was born June 19, 1940, in Norton, the daughter of John and Addie Sheets Rivers. She was a 1959 graduate of Great Bend High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1960, she worked retail for her parents at Rivers Shoe Store.
WOODWARD, Okla. - Carole Willcut, 78-year-old Woodward, Okla., resident, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gregory Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. ODIN – Mary M. Wondra, 92, died April 12, at Great Bend Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Odin, she was the daughter of Joseph V. and Frances M. (Tinkel) Jenisch. She graduated from Odin High School. On April 29, 1946, she married William Wondra in Odin. He died Nov. 13, 1996. A lifetime resident of the Odin and Claflin area, she was a homemaker.

CLAFLIN - Maxine L. Riemann, 93, died April 12 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born March 25, 1922 at Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Carl H. and Alice Bell (Hoadley) Schmidt.
HAYSVILLE- Terry Donovan, 60, passed away Saturday, April 11. Terry was a service and salesman at Kansasland Tire in Park City. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present 6-8 p.m. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Haysville United Methodist Church, 601 E. Grand.
OTIS Patsy Johnene Richards, 54, died April 11 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. Born Aug. 19, 1960 at Hereford, Texas, she was the daughter of Herman McDonald "Johnny" and Ouida (Stayton) Wray. She married Gerald "Jerry" Richards July 13, 1991 at Hereford, Texas. She was a secretary for Stanion Wholesale Electric. Mrs. Richards was an Otis, Kansas resident since 2001, moving to Kansas in 1995.
