Robert D. "Bob" Engle died on Feb. 9 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood. Bob was born on December 25, 1929 in Ransom to Oscar V. and Florence E. (Combest) Engle.

CHANDLER, Ariz. - Nadine Marie (Boyle) Luse, 91, passed away on March 7 at the Harmony House Group Home in Chandler, Ariz. Nadine was born on May 16, 1920 in Olmitz to Archer A. and Carrie M. (Hester) Boyle. She grew up in Olmitz, later moving to Great Bend, where she graduated from Great Bend High School in 1938. She was united in marriage to Charles Wesley Luse, Jr. on Aug. 6, 1938 at Great Bend, and the couple moved to southern California. Mr. Luse passed away in 1984. CLAFLIN – Derwin Disque, 55, died March 13 at Hays Medical Center. He was born Nov. 5, 1956, at Ellsworth, the son of Clarence and Delores C. (Woods) Disque. He married Karen West on Sept. 29, 2007, at Lake Wilson. He was a freight operator and tire salesman at Orscheln's Farm and Home.

David Michael "Mike" Johnson, 72, died Oct. 30 at Almost Home Inc., Great Bend. He was born Nov. 25, 1941, at Denison, Texas, the son of Doug and Woodie (Pritchard) Johnson. He married Peggy Temple April 28, 1962, at Borger, Texas. He founded M and M Equipment in 1975, retiring in December 2012.
PAWNEE ROCK - Ladine Peterson, 95, passed away Oct. 29 at the Woodhaven Care Center in Ellinwood. Born April 2, 1919, in Bison, she was the daughter of Everett and Frances Bitter Edwards. On April 3, 1941, she married Loraine Edwin Peterson in Bison. He passed away Jan. 20, 1995. A lifetime area resident of Rush and Pawnee County, she began her career as a teacher and retired from the ASCS office in Larned. She raised Persian cats and took them to many shows, and she also loved flowers.

HOISINGTON - Anna Rose Urban, 84, died Oct. 28, at Russell Regional Hospital. Born July 3, 1930, in Claflin, she was the daughter of Frank and Anna (Hoffman) Tinkel. On May 2, 1951, she married Julius J. Urban in Dubuque. He died on Oct. 27, 2003. A lifetime resident of Barton County, she was the janitorial manage at the Hoisington Veterinary Hospital for many years.

WICHITA - Robert W. "Bob" Bridges, 94, died Oct. 28 at Kansas Masonic Home, Wichita. He was born Nov. 28, 1919 at Turley, Okla. the son of Emery and Grace (Roberts) Bridges.
Kent E. Newport, 57, died Oct. 27 at Kansas Medical Center, Andover. He was born June 24, 1957 at Garden City, the son of John and Louise (Long) Newport. He married Karla K. Ehrlich Oct. 17, 1998 at Larned. He graduated from Garden City High School and attended both Garden City and Barton County Community Colleges.
TOPEKA - Loretta M. Gleissner, 87, of Topeka, passed away Oct. 25, in Topeka. She was born May 18, 1927, in New Baden, Ill., the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Mathews) Griesbaum.
COLLINSVILLE, Okla. - Wilthamina (Wilma) Simpson Nagel, resident of Collinsville, passed from this life on Oct. 25, at the age of 85 years. Wilma was born April 2, 1929, in Edinburgh, Scotland, to William and Davina (Taylor) Thomson. She was raised in Scotland, graduating high school there.
