STAFFORD - Kenneth "Kenny" Ross King, 64, died July 27, 2012 at the Pratt Regional Medical Center.
MACKSVILLE - Eston Piland, 83, died July 25 at Sterling House in Great Bend. Born Aug. 20, 1928 in Macksville, he was the son of Russell H. and Alta M. (Dykes) Piland. A resident of Great Bend for eleven years, he lived most of his life in Macksville where he was a farmer and stockman and a graduate of Macksville High School. On April 26, 1950, he married Patty R. (Standish) in Hutchinson. She survives of the home.
LARNED – Abby Louise Trapp Prescott, 22, died July 25 at Larned. She was born Nov. 6, 1989, at Great Bend, the daughter of Louis and Loretta Torrez Trapp. A 2008 graduate of Larned High School, she was the Outstanding Girl Athlete & Football Homecoming Queen. A lifetime area resident, she was most recently employed by USD 495 as a paraprofessional until her health prevented her from working.
PAWNEE ROCK - Clay Steffen Schmidt, 52, died July 24 at his home in Pawnee Rock. Born June 14, 1960 in Larned he was the son of Jarold and Ruth Petersen Schmidt. A lifetime area resident, he sold auto parts at Carquest. On March 26, 1983 he married Crystal Davidson in Larned. She survives.
ELLINWOOD - Chester A. Kimble, 95, died July 24, 2012 at Ellinwood.
GREAT BEND – Donald Eugene "Gene" Sheets, 84, died July 25, 2012 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
OVERLAND PARK - Teresa G. Weiser, 94, of Overland Park died July 25, 2012 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
ODIN - Anna M. Boor, 98, died July 22 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born Nov. 4, 1913 in Odin, she was the daughter of Joseph V. and Frances M. (Tinkel) Jenisch. On April 23, 1941 she married Nick F. Boor in Odin. He died on June 25, 1998. A lifetime resident of Odin, she was a retired homemaker and farmer.
LYONS - Carolyn Sue Brown, 68, died July 21 in Great Bend. Born June 1, 1944 in Shidler, Okla. she was the daughter of Homer Walter and Clara (Clapp) Spencer. On June 23, 1961 she married Dearl D. Brown in Lyons. He died on Feb. 11, 2009. A resident of Great Bend for the last five years, formerly of Lyons, she was employed in retail management and was an Army wife.
ST. JOHN - James "Jim" Melvin Tucker, 66, died July 21 at his home in St. John. Born on Feb. 8, 1946 in Stafford, he was the son of Melvin A. and Ellen E. (Branham) Tucker. A life-long resident of St. John, he was an oil field worker and case manager for Rosewood Services in Great Bend. On Sept. 20, 1970, he married Donna M. Blanding at St. John. She survives of the home.
HAYS - Melven Joseph Herl, 86, of Hays, died July 21 at Wheatland Nursing Center in Russell. Born June 21, 1926 in Antonino, he was the son of John J. and Caroline (Klaus) Herl. On June 2, 1947 he married Esther Sauer. She preceded him in death in 1999. He moved to Russell from the Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina, where he had been for nearly a year. He was the owner of Mel Herl Electric and a partner in Herl Brothers Cars. He was a musician with the Mel Hall Orchestra, was involved in band promotions and enjoyed gardening.
Margaret "Peggy" Lee Matthews, 84, died July 21 and Hoeger House, Olathe. She was born Aug. 5, 1927, at Hoisington, the daughter of Alvin Leroy and Jeanie (Francis) Holter. Peggy married Jack Matthews July 5, 1952, at Great Bend. He survives, of the home.
HOISINGTON - Lonnie B. Irvin, 57, died July 19 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington. He was born March 2, 1955, at LaCrosse, the son of Dean and Inez (Brackney) Irvin. He was a 1973 graduate of McCracken High School, was a student at Dodge City Community College, and was a graduate of Fort Hays State University.
Michelle Jean Steinert, age 56, lost a three-year fight with cancer at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, in her home surrounded by the pride and joy of her life – her five grown children. She was born July 22, 1955, in El Dorado, Kansas, the daughter of Darrell Bellew and Mary Pickett.
HOISINGTON - Ryan J. Booth, age 28, died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
HUDSON – Larry M. Sittner, 73, died April 16, 2015, at Via Christi, St. Francis, Wichita.
GREAT BEND - A. Dale Carpenter, 85, died April 17, 2015 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend.
HOISINGTON – Helen Margaret (Penka) Kalina, daughter of Emil and Hedwig (Heger) Penka, died Dec. 11, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse.

ST. JOHN - Norma Lea Gray, 78, died April 14, 2015 at Southwind Hospice in Pratt. Born Feb. 1, 1937, in Creek County, Okla., she was the daughter of Lester and Ruby (Browning) Allen. On Aug. 18, 1952, she married Melvin Eugene Gray in Oilton, Okla.
FREDONIA - Wanda Lee Deer, 93, passed away Sept. 23, 2014 in Wichita. Born on Feb. 28, 1921, in Hoisington, she was the daughter of Frank Edward and Nellie (Coats) Sypolt. On May 19, 1960, she was united in marriage to Kelso Deer. He preceded her in death. She worked as an executive secretary for Phillips Petroleum for many years.
FRONTENAC - Patrick John O'Connell, 86, passed away at 12:40 p.m. on April 14, 2015 at the Medicalodge of Frontenac. He was born March 29, 1929, in Pittsburg, the son of William F. and Mary (Kinsella) O'Connell. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and later from Pittsburg State University. On June 20, 1954, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Wilson at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. He worked for Cripe Bakery and Junge Baking Company as a route salesman.
RUSSELL - W. "Fritz" Waymaster, 87, died on April 12, 2015, at the Russell Regional Hospital. Born on July 30, 1927, in rural Bunker Hill, he was the son of David J. and Anna E. (Steinle) Waymaster. He grew up in the Bunker Hill area and started school there as well. Later he moved and finished his basic education in Russell and graduated from Russell High School in 1945.
HUTCHINSON - Marilyn K. Rivers, 74, died April 12, 2015, at Dillon Living Center. She was born June 19, 1940, in Norton, the daughter of John and Addie Sheets Rivers. She was a 1959 graduate of Great Bend High School. A resident of Hutchinson since 1960, she worked retail for her parents at Rivers Shoe Store.
WOODWARD, Okla. - Carole Willcut, 78-year-old Woodward, Okla., resident, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 16, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gregory Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
ODIN – Mary M. Wondra, 92, died April 12, at Great Bend Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Odin, she was the daughter of Joseph V. and Frances M. (Tinkel) Jenisch. She graduated from Odin High School. On April 29, 1946, she married William Wondra in Odin. He died Nov. 13, 1996. A lifetime resident of the Odin and Claflin area, she was a homemaker.

CLAFLIN - Maxine L. Riemann, 93, died April 12 at Woodhaven Care Center, Ellinwood. Born March 25, 1922 at Ellinwood, she was the daughter of Carl H. and Alice Bell (Hoadley) Schmidt.
HAYSVILLE- Terry Donovan, 60, passed away Saturday, April 11. Terry was a service and salesman at Kansasland Tire in Park City. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, with family present 6-8 p.m. Funeral service 10 a.m. Wednesday, at Haysville United Methodist Church, 601 E. Grand.
OTIS Patsy Johnene Richards, 54, died April 11 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, Wichita. Born Aug. 19, 1960 at Hereford, Texas, she was the daughter of Herman McDonald "Johnny" and Ouida (Stayton) Wray. She married Gerald "Jerry" Richards July 13, 1991 at Hereford, Texas. She was a secretary for Stanion Wholesale Electric. Mrs. Richards was an Otis, Kansas resident since 2001, moving to Kansas in 1995.
