EL DORADO - Irvin P. Burhenn, 85, El Dorado, died Jan. 4 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Born on Aug. 3, 1927 in Barton County, he was the son of Paul and Bertha (Langher) Burhenn. In 1945 he graduated from Great Bend High School. He served in the Army during the Korean War. On Jan. 30, 1952 he married Shirley Sisson at the Christian Church in Alva, Okla. LARNED - Frank M. Lemuz, 61, died Jan. 3 at Hays Medical Center. Born Feb. 8, 1951, in Larned, he was the son of Cirilo and Josefa Marquez Lemuz. A lifetime area resident he was a retired LMHT from the Larned State Hospital.
HOISINGTON - Charles F. Bennett, 76, died Jan. 2 at his residence in Hoisington. He was born March 11, 1936, at Shawnee, Okla., the son of J.B. and Louie Marie (Armstrong) Bennett. A lifelong Hoisington resident, he worked as a seismographic driller and at GBI for many years.
Dennis R. Milhon, 67, died Jan. 2 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation, Great Bend. He was born July 30, 1945, in Hutchinson, the son of Norman Ray and Valeta B Derley Milhon. A lifetime area resident, he was a CMA and a radio station announcer for KANS.
STAFFORD - Sadie Eunice Adams, 106, died Dec. 29, 2012, at Leisure Homestead, Stafford. Born April 11, 1906, at Stafford County, she was the daughter of John Isaac and Della Ollie Brock Powelson. She was a 1923 graduate of Stafford High School and a graduate of Sterling College. She was an elementary teacher and had taught in eight different schools in Stafford County. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Stafford, and a member of the Stafford Trojan Hall of Fame.
ATHENS, Texas - Mr. Tony Drees passed away on Jan. 1 in Tyler, Texas. Anthony Drees was born on Aug. 1, 1937 in Hays to Fredericus and Alberta Binder Drees. He was an avid golfer and loved drinking coffee with friends. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather and an amazing spirit that will be missed by all he touched.
WICHITA - Elle Fischer, former resident, a Kansas farm girl, was born in Stafford County on Sept. 25, 1935. Throughout her life, she embarked on a journey of self-discovery which kept her spirit young and daring. Sadly, that journey ended on Dec. 31. She was a woman of conviction who never knew a stranger and established enduring friendships throughout the world, Kansas, and especially Wichita. She will be remembered as a stylish, adventurous, genuine individual with a generous heart. She never failed to entertain us with stories of her amazing escapades.
